Land Acknowledgement
Quinnipiac: The People of the Long Water Land

We acknowledge that Troop 860 meets and gathers on the ancestral homeland of the Quinnipiac people, whose traditional territory includes the Quinnipiac River watershed and the land that is now Hamden, North Haven, and the surrounding region. For thousands of years, the Quinnipiac people lived in relationship with these forests, rivers, and hills, caring for the land and its resources.

We honor the Quinnipiac people and all Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land across generations. We recognize that their history, culture, and presence remain an important part of Connecticut today. As Scouts, we strive to embody values of respect, stewardship, and service, and we commit to learning about the history of the places we call home while caring for the land for future generations.
